My Why: Why Real Estate Will Always Be About People, Not Properties

People often ask why I do what I do - why I’ve stayed in real estate through changing markets, life transitions, and seasons that required me to slow down or pivot. The answer is simple, but deeply meaningful:

Because it has never been about houses.
It’s always been about people.

Behind every transaction is a story. A season. A life change. And being invited into that moment is something I will never take lightly.

Stories That Stay With Me

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside so many people during pivotal chapters of their lives.

I’ve helped single moms buy their very first homes - watching them step into stability, independence, and pride they worked so hard for.

I’ve helped a solo mom who lost her husband purchase the forever home they had always dreamed of together - holding space for both grief and hope as she created a new chapter for her family.

I’ve helped a single girl dad buy his first home, knowing it would be the place where his daughter would grow up, make memories, and feel safe.

I’ve helped families sell the homes where they raised their kids, transitioning into empty-nest seasons filled with both excitement and nostalgia.

One of the most full-circle moments of my career was helping a family sell a home - a home that had once been my family’s home. A space that held my own memories, now becoming part of someone else’s story.

I’ve helped families new to the area feel safe, welcomed, and connected, turning unfamiliar places into communities they could truly call home.

I’ve helped families move on to their next home, whether it was upsizing, downsizing, or simply aligning with a new season of life.

I’ve helped people find their forever homes in retirement, and then had the honor of helping one of their sisters do the very same - a reminder that trust and relationships ripple outward in beautiful ways.

Every Move Carries Emotion

No matter the reason for a move - celebration, growth, loss, or change - there are always emotions involved.

Buying and selling a home is complex. It’s layered. It’s vulnerable. And often, it comes at times when people are already navigating a lot.

That’s why I believe my role goes far beyond contracts and timelines.

It’s about:

  • Listening

  • Educating

  • Advocating

  • Holding space

  • And guiding people with honesty and care

An Honor I Don’t Take Lightly

Being trusted with someone’s story - their finances, their future, their family - is one of the greatest honors of my life.

I don’t see clients as transactions. I see them as humans with real fears, hopes, and dreams. And my goal is always to make sure they feel supported, informed, and never alone in the process.

Why I’ll Always Do This Work

I have been there. I grew up moving every few years - I know what it’s like to start over, to say good-bye. I have moved for job opportunities, a divorce, remarrying and blending - and each home was a safe space to heal and grow.

Real estate is where community, relationships, and life intersect. It’s where people begin again, close chapters, and step into what’s next.

And getting to walk alongside people during those moments - to guide them, advocate for them, and celebrate with them - is why I do what I do.

Because at the end of the day, this work isn’t about buying or selling property.

It’s about people, stories, and relationships - and being trusted to help carry them forward.

As we head into a new season of growth and blooming, we will gather to share how we self-care - the unsexy way.
